Strand Church Family - can you help by please sharing this important information. Thank you.
As a church family we want to be wise in light of the on-going Coronavirus situation. It is important that we all endorse good practice and follow the advice given by public health professionals. We all have a part to play in helping to control the spread and effect of this virus.
The best defence against this infection is to ensure good hygiene with regular washing of hands and binning of tissues. In line with Public Health advice, we encourage anyone with a recent onset of cough and/or a high temperature to self-isolate and to contact their general practitioner for medical advice.
Following the latest Government directives on 16th March we have decided to cancel our organisations This will include cancelling Sunday services, at least for the next three weeks – 22nd, 29th March & 5th April. This will be reviewed with regard to Easter Sunday 12th April.
We hope to be able to relay a shorter service using social media and our website so you may worship at home. We'll be giving you more details about this over the next few days.
It is advised that anyone in the over 70’s bracket or with any underlying health conditions not attend any church group. Likewise, anyone who has been in contact with a wide range of people and may be carrying the virus should not attend.
We realise that there may be those in our congregation and community who are isolated or in need of assistance at this time and so we hope to phone the most vulnerable in our church in order to find those who potentially need help.
We are aware that this a developing situation, so we will keep under review our plans which will be updated as required so please use our Facebook page and Church Website.
The Evangelical Alliance has echoed the good advice of health professionals
and encouraged us in the following during this difficult time. As a church family, let’s be people of:
• Prayer – pray especially for health professionals, the elderly (particularly those who are resident in Care Homes and their staff) and community carers.
• Protection - be sensible and use best hygiene practice individually and as a church.
• Practical - look to the needs of others, especially our elderly and vulnerable neighbours.
We are people of faith, not fear, so let us not panic. Instead, let us be Prayerful, Protect ourselves and others and also be Practical in our care.
In his pastoral letter our Moderator Rt. Rev William Henry quotes Psalm
“For in the day of trouble He will keep me safe in His dwelling;
He will hide me in the shelter of His sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.”
With prayerful blessings at this unprecedented time,
Rev. Danny Rankin on behalf of Kirk Session.
