OUR HISTORY


The History of Strand Church which spans more than 100 years.
Brief History
1st November 1903 Congregation erected under the name of Strand.  There was no building at this stage.
24th January 1904 Rev. WJ Fawcett ordained as our first minister.
1905  A Meeting Hall was erected.
17th March 1923   Twenty years after the formation of Strand Church the first foundation stones of an actual church building were led.
17th March 1924  The church was opened and dedicated, however it was still unfinished.  Most of the work was being done by the congratulation themselves.
1950  There is a fire within the church which destroyed the pulpit and some of the furnishings, which had to be replaced.
1953  War Memorial Organ installed.
1st November 2003  Centenary Year celebrations.  100 years old!
July 2011  Due to the condition of the church and its halls it was decided to rebuild Strand for the needs of a modern era and the old church building was demolished.
20th October 2013 New building Opened.
