
Daniel Rankin (Danny) joined Strand on the 21st January 2009. Born in Glasgow, Danny attended Lebanon Missionary College, Berwick-on-Tweed, where he met Lorraine and married Lorraine.
After completing their studies they joined WEC International and spent a number of years in Thailand, as church planters. It was during this time that David and Dawn were born.
When in Belfast on deputation in 1989, Danny believed he was being called to the Ministry and he applied to the Presbyterian Church. Danny resigned from WEC International and worked for the Ulster Bank for a period, while his application was being processed.

During his studies, their third child, Stephen, was born. Danny was placed as an Assistant in McQuiston Memorial and when he completed his time was installed as Minister of Markethill in May 1998
After 10 years, he applied to come to Strand and was installed on the 21st January 2009.
Deaconess
Mrs Sharon Heron grew up in Newtownards and went to Greenwell Street Presbyterian Church. At the age of 23 Sharon studied to be a Deaconess at Belfast & Glasgow Bible Colleges.
After marrying Sammy in June 1996, Sharon started her work as a Deaconess in Strand in August.
Sharon’s main work involves home and hospital visits, organising Pensioners meetings, helping to run the Carer & Toddler Group as well as leading 3 Home Bible Study Groups and serving on the Playgroup Committee.
Sharon has been serving God at Strand for 12 years and has been blessed to bring up her two children Hanna aged 9 and Joshua aged 6 in God’s loving family.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my 12 years at Strand and have met many people and built up great friendships, but most of all have learned so much about God in that time and am continually being challenged to do what God wants in my life.”
Clerk of Session
Sam Kennedy, who has just taken on the job from September 2007, has been an elder for a number of years and is a member of the Praise Group. Sam and Celia have 2 adult children.
Martin Hampton is an Auditor and qualified Accounting Technician and has recently been elected onto the Eldership. Martin is married with 2 young children and is a founder member of the Strand Walkers.

Andy Boal was born in Scotland, but was brought up in Belfast, Ballywalter and Donaghadee, attending Regent House in Newtownards. He moved with his parents to Bangor in 1994, but moved to South Belfast in Summer 2007.
Brought up in more traditional Church of Ireland churches and choirs, Andy cut his teeth in the world of worship leading at the Church of the Resurrection in the Church of Ireland Chaplaincy at Queen's, from where he joined Strand in May 2007. A Civil Servant during the week, Andy also maintains a keen interest in Summer Madness
